DescriptionWine goblet of clear glass. Ovoid bowl with a drawn facet cut stem. On an applied conical foot. Decorated with diamond point stipple engraving of a portrait bust of Amsterdam Magistrate E.F. Van Berckel. Shows a stippled banner flowing on either side from the top of the framed portrait reading: "Mr. E F VAN BERCKEL" and "PENSIONARIS DER STAT AMSTERDAM" and beneath "LUX IN TENEBRIS". On reverse is a stipple engraved scene of sand dunes and a shipping signal. Beneath this reads: "TERRAM PERLUSTRAT & UNDAS". English Newcastle type glass engraved with D. Wolff type engraving. Rough pontil.
