Label TextGoblet wih Portrait of Vice Admiral The Netherlands Zoutman Ca. 1781-90 Blown glass; diamond stipple engraved. Inscription: "De Vice Admiraal J.A. Zoutman" Gift of Walter P. Chrysler, Jr. 72.46 Admiral Zoutman commanded the Dutch fleet at the Battle of Dogger Bank (August 5, 1781)- the only naval engagement of the Anglo-Dutch War of 1780-84. The battle was a draw, but Zoutman's forces were hailed as heros at home for having held their own against the Britsih navy.
