DescriptionCovered pickle jar in "Opera" pattern, commonly called Actress. Pressed colorless glass with acid-frosted foot. Female bust profiles marked "ANNIE PIXLEY" & "MAUD GRANGER". Spoon-like shell decorations along mold seams. Lid has four shells on shoulder & four shells on underside of finial. Roughage on rim & foot. Chip possibly ground out of lid.Published ReferencesJ.S. AMERICAN POTTERY & GLASSWARE REPORTER, Feb. 12, 1880, noted "Equally nice is the new pickle jar in their 'Opera' set which carries a picture...of Annie Pixley...The face of Miss Pixley really has an expression that is very life-like".
