DescriptionThis is a blank for the reproduction of the Portland Vase in cameo glass. It is blown in deep purplish-blue glass with a thick outer casing of opaque white glass extending from the foot over the shoulder and on to the lower portion of the neck. The purplish-blue glass handles are hot-applied with the tops attached at the middle of the neck and the lower portions to the opaque white glass of the shoulder. The foot has been cold-worked to remove the opaque white glass from the bottom and a narrow band from the side; the bottom has been ground into a slightly irregular dome. The lower portions of the handles have been smoothed by grinding.
