InscribedThe four cartouches are engraved as follows: "Ich suche im Feuer. Ich suche in der Luft. Ich suche in der Erde. Ich suche in Wasser. O ihr Narren all vier. Wass ihr sucht das hab ich hier" which means "I am looking in the fire. I am looking in the air. I am looking in the earth. I am looking in the water. Oh you fools all four. What you are looking for, I have here (in the wine)".

DescriptionCovered pokal or goblet of clear blown glass with a panel cut stem. The bowl is engraved with five cartouches, four of which represent the four natural elements (earth, air, fire and water) and the fifth is a homage to the elements. The cartouches are bordered by engraved floral decoration and scrollwork. The rim is gilded. Base badly damaged. Rim regilded, repaired by placing brass band around rim.
