The pear-shaped body is reserved on either side with a gilt rococo scroll-edged "mirror"-shaped cartouche painted with iron-red and gilt star-shaped blossoms between iron-red fan-shaped devices at the sides. The front and reverse are reserved with "vase"-shaped cartouches beneath triangular panels, all edged with scrollwork and containing a single iron-red blossom. The cover is similarly decorated with two gilt-edged "mirror"-shaped cartouches of two iron-red blossoms and a single "vase"-shaped cartouche around the iron-red and green floral sprig knop. The spout and cover rim are edged in gilding. There is a pseudo-Chinese seal mark in underglaze blue. There are tiny chips on the knop.ProvenanceHenry Clay Hofheimer, II
