DescriptionAn 1860s American period frame, with a solid outer molding of four mitered pieces of carved milled pine with gildling and applied composition ornament. Its central feature is the 2 3/4 inch wide cove decorated with sand, applied in a stenciled rock pattern. A channeled sanded astragal borders both sides of the cove, and additional applied composition ornaments include a running pattern along the back edge, ribbon corners on the otuer molding, bellflour corners within the cove, and strung pearls bordering the flat-and-hollow sight edge. Sight size is 38 x 57 inches, and the molding width is 8 1/2 inch.
