DescriptionThis is a nineteenth-century American Neoclassical Revival frame, with a solid outer molding of four mitered pieces of carved milled pine with gilding and applied composition ornament. Its central features are a narrow 1 ½ in. wide ogee-shaped finely fluted outer cove and a 1 ¼ in. inner sand panel. Additional applied composition ornaments include a laurel-and-berry design and banded corners on the top edge, leaf corners within the cove, strung pearls around the outside of the sand panel, and running geometric ornament bordering the flat-and-hollow sight edge. The sight size is 48 ¾ x 68 ¼ in., and the molding width is 7 in.
