DescriptionThis is an American wood frame created ca. 1890, typical in style for Hudson River School paintings. It features gilded and applied composition ornament, with a laurel and berry top edge, followed by a cove with a stylized acanthus pattern scotia, a band of strung pearls, a thin fluted inner cove, and a band of geometric ornament, with a flat and hollow liner. It measures 41 1/2 x 51 1/2 inches, and the sight edge is 30 x 40 inches. The width of the molding is 6 inches and the depth is 4 inches.
