DescriptionThis albumen carte de visite is a three-quarter-length portrait of James Gordon Bennett (1795-1872), editor, publisher, founder of "New York Herald." His right hand is at his side; left hand rests on a chair back; to his left is a drape. The mount is rectangular with rounded corners at upper left and right. Double gilt lines border the image.
