Label TextWorcester Porcelain Manufactory Worcester, England (1751-1783) Scalloped Deep Dish, ca. 1770 Painted in the manner of Jefferyes Hamett O'Neale (ca. 1734-1801), with the fable of the "Lion and the Four Bulls" Porcelain Gift of Henry Clay Hofheimer II 94.41.25 Born around 1734, Jefferyes Hamett O'Neale was an Irish artist and miniaturist of note. His work at Worcester is remarkable, not only because signed examples make it possible to identify his work, but also because the quality and originality of his painting is so high. Probably part of a large dessert service, this dish is the first work by the artist to enter the Museum's collection.
