DescriptionThis is a 'Fence' Pattern Chocolate Cup (A) and Saucer (B). Each piece of ogee shape, the cup with scroll handles at the sides and transfer-printed on the front and reverse in two segments, the deep saucer printed with the scene as a whole depicting peonies growing by a Chinese garden fence, and to the left two birds flying toward a hut on an island beyond, the interior of the scalloped and barbed rim with a wide cell diaper border. Crescent marks printed in underglaze-blue.
