DescriptionThis is a Worcester "Kempthorne" pattern chocolate cup (A) and saucer (B). Each piece is ogee shaped and painted in an expanded Imari palette of underglaze-blue, iron-red, green, and gilding around the exterior of thesaucer and interior of the chocolate cup. There are flowering plants growing from a gilt herringbone-patterned underglaze blue border or roundel interrupted with iron-red demi-flowerhead panels repeated as a border around the scalloped and barbed rim. The sides of the cup have scroll handles. There are pseudo-Chinese seal marks in underglaze blue.
