DescriptionThis is an early Worcester 'Pedestal' Sauceboat. The oval body press-molded on either side with a bird above a rococo cartouche issuing floral and foliate sprays and painted in a famille-verte palette on one side with a Chinese boy holding a pennant in a river landscape, on the reverse with a crane in a fenced garden, and beneath the shell-molded spout with a small panel containing a floral sprig repeated within a molded lozenge on either side of the oval foot, the interior painted with a floral spray beneath a green trellis diaper and floral panel border around the rim, and the C-scroll handle with a scroll thumbpiece.ProvenanceHenry Clay Hofheimer, II
