DescriptionThis is one of a pair of Worcester plates painted in the London workshop of James Giles. Each plate has a cluster of fruit and flowers. One plate also has a sprig of peapods, an eggplant, a blue convolvulus, rose auriculas, and a tiny purple sprig. The other plate has a sprig of purple rose hips and three other floral sprigs. Both plates have a gilt-edged, petal-shaped rim. Both have some central scratching and the rims have some speckling and wear to the gilding.
