DescriptionThis is one of a pair of Worcester cos lettuce sauceboats. Each is press-molded as overlapping leaves issuing from the brown- and yellow-heightened looped stem handle further issuing two small leaves veined in rose and edged in green. On one side is a blossom and two yellow and iron-red buds. The sides and interior are colorfully painted with scattered floral sprigs and insects. The serrated rim is edged in brown. One sauceboat has a black workman's mark. One sauceboat has a slight roughness on the edge of the spout.ProvenanceHenry Clay Hofheimer, II
