DescriptionThis is a Worcester "Prunus and Chrysanthemum" pattern sugar bowl (A) and cover (B) painted in an Imari palette of underglaze blue, iron-red, green, and gilding with a "Kempthorne"-type pattern. One side has a flowering prunus branch above a long, trailing, leafy branch, and the reverse has a stem of chrysanthemums. The interior of the bowl has a floral sprig and two sprays. The cover has a yellow-centered iron-red and green floral sprig knop. There is a pseudo-Chinese seal mark in underglaze blue. There are tiny chips on the knop.ProvenanceHenry Clay Hofheimer, II
