DescriptionThis is a Worcester blue-scale spherical teapot (A) and cover (B). Each piece is reserved on either side with two gilt scroll-edged "mirror"-shaped cartouches alternating with "vase"-shaped cartouches beneath two pairs of triangular panels on the pot and a rectangular panel above the spout, all painted in a Kakiemon palette with flowering shrubbery. The entwined foliate scroll handle is heightened in gilding. The cover has a blue, green, and turquoise floral sprig knop. There is a pseudo-Chinese seal mark in underglaze blue. The knop has tiny chips and the pot neck and cover rim were each later drilled with two holes for a metal mount.
