DescriptionThis is a Worcester "Sir Joshua Reynolds" pattern large coffee cup (A) and saucer (B). Each piece is painted in a Kakiemon palette with two panels of a Chinese pheasant perched on a rock amidst peonies and two panels of peony branches alternating with underglaze blue panels reserved on the cup with a mons and reserved on the saucer with a peony roundel, each surrounded with gilt flowers and foliage. The lower body of the cup and the center of the saucer have an underglaze blue border reserved with a white floral vine enclosing on the saucer a peony sprig. There are pseudo-Chinese marks in underglaze blue. The cup rim is cracked.
