DescriptionThis is a Worcester "Hop Trellis" pattern oval sauce tureen (A), cover (B), and ladle (C). Each piece is painted with iron-red and green hops suspended between gold and puce trellises within gilt scroll-edged borders of turquoise cailloute or gros bleu bands. The ends of the tureen have gilt-heightened shell-form handles. The cover has a gilt-heightened pine cone knop. There is a crescent mark in underglaze blue. The ladle has a circular bowl and the handle terminal has gilt-heightened lightly molded scrollwork. The knop stem is hair cracked and the ladle notch on the cover is chipped.
