DescriptionThis is a Worcester quatrefoil sauce tureen (A), cover (B), and stand (C). Each piece was later decorated with a thick apple-green ground reserved on either side with a gilt rococo scroll-edged cartouche colorfully painted with an exotic bird before a small tree on a glassy plateau and further reserved on either side with a smaller rococo scroll-edged cartouche painted with a bird in flight. The handles on each side are formed as gilt-heightened white twigs terminating in iron red and blue flowers and green leaves. The cover and stand rims are edged with gilt-heightened gadrooning. There are small chips in the terminal petals.
