DescriptionThis is a Worcester "Old Japan Fan" pattern reticulated circular basket painted in the center in an Imari palette with a large gilt mons within an underglaze blue roundel reserved with a white flowering vine and surrounded by gilt-patterned fan devices alternating with circles. The sides are formed by interlocking circlets with green-centered rose florets applied at the intersections. Green rope-twist handles terminating in yellow blossoms and green leaves are affixed at the sides of the gilt-edged rim. There are pseudo-Chinese character marks in underglaze blue.
