DescriptionThis is a Worcester spherical teapot (A) and cover (B) colorfully painted with a Chinese boy showing a bird to a lady seated and painting a table on one side and a boy showing a fishing pole to a lady holding a vase of flowers on the opposite side. Each scene is within a brown-edged panel reserved on a ground of gilt scrollwork further reserved with panels of iron-red and black flowers and small roundels of rose flowers. The cover has panels of vessels on a similar ground around the teardrop knop. The pot and the cover rim each have a shallow chip.ProvenanceHenry Clay Hofheimer, II
